Werner Hippler
Tight End
In 1998 Werner Hippler had played for the Detroit Lions, where he had gathered a lot of feeling for the game.
So it was no surprise, that he became on the most successful German Football players when playing for the Frankfurt Galaxy.
In fact he is was born in Cologne, where most people have a natural animosity when it comes to neighbor town Duesseldorf, the home of the Rhein Fire. That's why he had to move as far as Frankfurt to play a major role in German NFL Football.
During the World winning 1999 Frankfurt Galaxy season he had once again impressed at arch rival Rhein Fire At Fire with seven receptions for 81 yards, but the season 2000 wasn`t that bright for him and he did sign on in the XFL, where also several NFL coaches were seeking no glories.
After an extremely short and brutal XFL stint the Galaxy fans were truly happy when they saw him wearing purple uniform for season 2003.
Certainly it must have been a sad moment for the Galaxy Fans when the NFL had launched the Cologne Centurions, what had forced Werner Hippler to move back to beloved home town Cologne city, where with Peter Vaas a World Bowl winning head coach was building as new team.
