And on the 25th of December parties had been long and lively all over Unawatuna beach so that many locals and holiday makers were thrown out of bed by the Tsunami waves and not all of them were as fortunate as those, who had stayed at the SurfCity guest house, where guests had even been able to collect their complete luggage undamaged a day later.
After the Tsunami Unawatuna and Galle had been in a sad state as these videos with also eyewitness interviews reveal.

Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa had been looking really good a few days before the Tsunami and many tourists were having a great time.
14 months after the Tsunami Surfcity guest house owner Imco had talked about the recovery of Unawatuna.
It had been the last great beach party for a while not only at the SurfCity guest house as it took months to rebuild all the restaurants and hotels, which were demolished or severely damaged by the Tsunami.
The SurfCity Guesthouse had resisted against the Tsunami very well and only the front wall and the downstairs furniture and equipment had required some replacement.
House dog Milkshake and all the courageous staff had survived well and damages were not that big at all compared to the Peacock hotel.
