Right next to the Sri Dalada Maligawa the Perehara procession begins every evening for 10 big nights when at around 8 o`clock the ceremony begins with the sharp sound of the whips and these burning rings of the Kandy Fire Dancers.
Usually the ceremony begins with the incredible fire dancers.
These Perehara dancers receive around 10.000 Rupees for their performance and training and nowadays it is mainly youth and 40+, who are getting involved into the Perehara, where seats are priced at up to $50 for Western tourists, what has brought down their overall interest significantly compared to the previous years.
These Perehara Fire Dancers are another big attraction of the Perehara.
